While discussions continue on whether the shire’s medical services should fall under Lismore-based Northern NSW Local Health District rather than Newcastle-based Hunter New England and with no new hospital on the horizon, the MP is keen to arrest any deterioration of either the Tenterfield Hospital or Urbenville MPS.
“Under the leadership of Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro the NSW Government has had a strong track record of delivering high quality health services to the seat of Lismore,” Mr George said.
“The budget which will be delivered on Tuesday 19 June offers the NSW Government an opportunity to improve and extend the life of both of these vital services.”
Mr George said he’s been lobbying health minister Brad Hazzard over the past six months on the issues. The outcome will be revealed next week.
