The State Disaster Relief Committee recently released an initial $100,000 from this fund to help farm families in NSW struggling with worsening drought conditions.
State President of CWA of NSW, Annette Turner said releasing this money from Disaster Relief Fund is something tangible they can do for those families in need.

“We can’t make it rain but we can try to ease a little of their financial pain,” Annette said.
The Drought Aid Grants will be made up to a maximum of $3000 per individual applicant to cover groceries, vehicle maintenance, school expenses, household bills and medical costs. Grant payments are available for farming businesses that are drought affected and reliant on farming for their primary source income.
For application information and criteria related to the grants go to www.cwaofnsw.org.au/drought aid. Donations are tax deductible and are able to be made via CWA website at cwaofnsw.org.au/donate
With more funding, more can be done. CWA of NSW have been receiving donations from CWA branches, the public and larger donations.
A generous donation of $1 million by businessman and philanthropist Dick Smith from his Food Foundation and $50,000 from NAB have helped continue fund grants.
Coles Supermarkets have launched a fundraising appeal at checkouts in 800 stores across Australia to help families. These funds will be distributed by CWA of Australia in all states affected by drought. Ask at the checkouts on how to donate to this fund.
Tenterfield CWA Branch will continue their fund raising efforts. A market stall at the coming Peter Allen Festival selling home made goods and accepting donations is planned.
