I am presently preaching a series of messages on 1 and 2 Timothy, two letters written by the great apostle Paul to his protégé Timothy; instructing Timothy on how the “House of God” ought to behave itself (the House of God being the “Church of the Living God” - the organism that is “the pillar or mainstay” of truth in every society).
Pontius Pilate once asked Jesus, “What is truth?”... yet Pilate was staring at the very face of “truth” as he deliberated over the fate of Jesus Christ - King of the Jews.
Indeed, Pilate had only need wait another 50 days for the arrival of the Jewish Feast of Pentecost; a feast upon which the Holy Spirit would come down from heaven and fill Christ’s faithful with His power, thus birthing the Church. And Pilate would only have had to ask one of those “spirit-filled” men to explain “truth” to him and they would have told Pilate, “Jesus alone is the way, the truth and the life”.
No one can come to the Father unless they come through Jesus i.e. by accepting Jesus as the son of God and receiving Him by faith. This knowledge I’m sure would have satisfied Pilate’s quest for truth and delivered him salvation at the same time.
Praying for rain
The Mayor of Tenterfield Peter Petty has called on Tenterfield and district to pray for rain. This event will be held in Bruxner Park in front of the council chambers tomorrow commencing at 3pm. Come and pray. NSW is 99 per cent in drought.
Is God responsible for withholding the rain? The scriptures tell us “yes”.
"I kept the rain from falling when your crops needed it the most. I sent rain on one town but withheld it from another. Rain fell on one field, while another field withered away.” (Amos 4 v 7)
Is God willing to pour down the rain on those standing with him as well as those who are not? Yes! “He makes His sun rise on those who are evil and on those who are good, and makes the rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (Matthew 5 v 4)
The Lord says, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7 v 14)
On Sunday, come and be part of Australia’s biggest event. It happens every weekend. You guessed it; Christian Church attendance remains the biggest event in Australia every weekend (2016 – Census).
