For one man – Sam Childers – the concept of fight took on two extremes.
Growing up, he got into the wrong crowds and a life of crime led him to becoming a shot gunner armed guard for drug dealers.
Then, amazingly, he discovered Jesus and his life did a 360. He ended up in war-torn Sudan and saw a child who had died by a landmine. In that moment he decided that he would do all he could to help the people of Southern Sudan.

The local people thought that he was mad but he set about building huts to house the children. The Lord’s Resistance Army had captured over 30,000 children and murdered thousands of villagers.
He worked in the day and at night slept with a Bible in one hand and an AK47 in the other. The locals called him the Machinegun Preacher.
He set up groups to help him save the children. Sam Childers is the kind of guy that lies awake at night thinking not of the ones he has saved but the ones he has left behind.
When Sam discovered Jesus for himself everything in his life shifted. He discovered that he was created for a purpose and he found hope. He found a way out of everything that would pull him down and started to live a life full of purpose and hope.
When we connect with God he reminds us that we were created for a purpose and for greatness. He brings hope into our lives even amid the worst that life throws at us.
I don’t know what life is throwing at you at the moment or what you are fighting in your life but I do know that when we accept Jesus into our lives he brings hope and reveals his purpose to us for our lives that brings us great personal joy and hope.
Proverbs 3: 5-7 says: “Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track.”
