Former Australian Prime Minister George Reid is to be remembered at a ceremony in London 100 years after his death.
Before he became prime minister in 1904, Sir George served as NSW premier in the five years to 1899 and later became the first high commissioner of Australia to the UK.
He is remembered for being the first Australian politician to introduce a raft of progressive social welfare legislation and the only politician to become a member of both the Australian House of Representatives and the British House of Commons.
A service and wreath-laying is to be held on Wednesday at Putney Vale Cemetery and Crematorium in London, where he is buried.
