It will be a bit like Pamplona’s running of the bulls, without the horns, when local school kids run the gauntlet of colour-firing emergency services personnel at the big fete being held at The Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School (TSHPMPS) this Saturday, October 27 from 9am.

All schools in the Tenterfield district have been invited to participate in the Colour & Fun Run, with prizes on offer for those who fundraise. Even those not attached to a participating school can be part of the fun for a $5 entry fee.
While the run’s on from around 1.30pm, it’s been a few years since the school has hosted a fete and this pent-up demand is being unleashed as a huge community get-together, with all the fun of the fair.
Even the weather is cooperating with a break in the rains predicted for Saturday, mostly sunny with a maximum of 27 degree and minimal chance of rain, perfect for a Spring fete.
Students have been busy creating arts and crafts, there will be an art competition, and lots of community organisations participating including the SES, firies and police helping with the colour run obstacle course.
Rotary, Lions, CWA, TAFE NSW, the soccer and touch footy clubs, KCL Family Daycare and Tenterfield Child Care Centre will also be onsite, along with jumping castles, lots of stalls, a Merry Go Round, face painting and a cent auction.
Each of the classes have come up with their own ideas for stalls, resulting in a huge variety of inexpensive, fun activities you might find at a traditional country fete. They include lucky dips, guessing jars, arcade games, an art gallery and nail polish studio and even a guess-the-baby-photo challenge.
No one will go hungry with a food court operated by TSHPMPS P&C, including the Lions’ infamous donut van.
