On Wednesday the Liquor legends took on their close rivals the Tavern.
Tavern batted first with Peter Holley scoring 51 not out towards a total 5/160. The juniors had it all over the older blokes in the Liquor Legends, this time with two of their young stars Jayden Swan and Saxxon Ford taking 1/13 and 1/17 respectively. In the second innings the Legends stepped up to bat scoring 8/107, not enough to clinch their first win.
Ed Hickson was the top run scorer for the Legends with 18. The Tavern bowled very well, particularly Warren Jenkins with a very tidy 2/5.
Thursday night saw the KLAS Bouncers up against the Short Fuses. The Bouncers batted first as opener Adam Genninges hit 29 followed by serial run scorer Mick Parker, 35 not out, which helped the total get to 5/174. Again the juniors showed up the older men with JJ Cusack taking 2/15, trying to keep the Bouncers score down valiantly. In the second innings Scott Bates scored a brilliant 46 helping the total get to 102. Matt Savins, yet another junior in our comp, bowled extraordinarily well for the Bouncers taking 3/2. Adam Genninges also bowled very well with 2/3.
Next week the Liquor Legends take on the KLAS Bouncers on Wednesday night and the Short Fuses are up against the XI Ducks on Thursday night. A massive well done to the junior players in our competition who are definitely the ones to watch this year. Keep up the good work!
