The competition’s organiser Patsy Barry said there was still plenty of participants from all over the country, including Far North Queensland.
“I have 36 players at the moment,” she said.
“Because of the drought, numbers are down.
“This is the least we have had playing but it is still a wonderful number, some places only got four starters because of the drought.
“These children come from right out and people just can't afford to come because of the drought and the fires this year.”
Starting on Monday, the players had the opportunity to learn off Australian golfing great Charlie Earp and other pro coaches. Earp mentored the kids and showed them how to improve their game. Barry said Earp’s presence was a major drawcard for the participants.
“The big attraction is Charlie Earp becoming Greg Norman's coach and the other two coaches,” Barry said.
“That is the major attraction for the children to tour here. They are being taught today and Charlie will video them and show them what they are doing wrong.”
The tournament wraps up on Wednesday.
