The Tenterfield Show Society is encouraging the whole community to enjoy a fun day out by offering free entry to the 2019 Tenterfield Show on 8-9 February.

The move has been made possible by a grant from the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme. The show was allocated $50,000 of Tenterfield Shire Council’s million-dollar drought grant, with the event meeting the criteria for bringing the drought-ravaged community together.

“We realise that many local families, residents and businesses are struggling at the moment and by offering free admission to the Tenterfield Show, we hope that as many people as possible will be able to enjoy this community event with family and friends,” Tenterfield Show Society Matt Duff said.
“We’ve planned a great lineup of entertainment, including the comedy whip cracking duo, The Crack-Up Sisters, dog jumping demonstrations by BackTrack, a reptile display and new events including Yard Dog Trials and the Farmer Challenge.
“As well as popular attractions such as the fireworks, demolition derby, showgirl presentation and local and NRA Rodeos, we’ve also added some extra free activities for the children.
Tenterfield Shire Council is co-ordinating information stands for those affected by the drought.
Gold coin donations collected at the gate will go to the Salvation Army for drought relief.
“We’re grateful to the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program for making this possible,” Mr Duff said.
“We also thank our major sponsor, the Regional Australia Bank, and many local sponsors who support the Tenterfield Show every year.”
Member for Lismore Thomas George will officially open the 2019 Show on Friday, February 8. The Member for New England, Barnaby Joyce will officially open the new rodeo yards on Saturday, February 9.
Although admission to the show is free, membership tickets are still available for those who wish to support the show by becoming a member. Tenterfield Show Society membership tickets can also be used to gain admission to the Tenterfield Show.
Membership and ride tickets are available from the Show Office at the Tenterfield Showgrounds. From January 21 the office will be open every Monday from 2pm to 5pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 4pm; and Thursday from 10am to 5pm.
