After appointing their coaches late last year, the Tigers turned their focus to preparing off-the-field with a golf day and jersey auction to raise funds to put the teams on the park.
Saturday will see a four-person ambrose golf day at the Tenterfield Golf Club from 2pm.
Entry fees are $20 and they are offering prizes for the best-dressed team.
The jersey auction will commence at 7pm at the Tenterfield Tavern.
Each number on the team will be auctioned off with the sponsor printed on the jersey and their name read out every time the player wearing the jersey scores points.
“We try to remind people they are buying the jersey, not buying a specific player because at the end of the day you could end up playing in four different jerseys throughout the year,” Tigers president Brendan Minns said.
“You might play one game in the one you were first named in.”
Halfback Jarrod McIntosh and Josh Lucas, who spent time at lock and in the centres, were the boys’ top try-scorers last season while fullback Charlie Duroux was the predominant goal-kicker.
Megg Landers wearing the number six was the top-tryscorer in the league tag team.
“Generally speaking, your number one, six and seven, you have Jarrod McIntosh who scores quite a lot of tries so his jersey normally goes fairly well,” Minns said.
“He is playing again this year and I daresay he will be in that same position. Someone like him, they know he can score tries and they know the one who is a goal kicker. If you have a goal-kicker there you can be read out maybe 40 or 50 times depending on how you go.”
If someone spends $500 on a jersey they will receive a replica. Anyone who wishes to purchase a jersey but can’t make the auction is advised to contact Debbie Minns or Brendan Minns.
The rugby league season will begin early for centre Jordan Binge after he was selected in the Group 19 men’s under-23 team to play in the Greater Northern Championships on February 9.
Binge was a mid-season transfer to the Tigers last season and managed two tries from his four matches.
Group 19 held the trials for the men’s team on Sunday and selected a 20-man squad for the Championships.
Moree Boomerangs mentor Chris Binge was appointed was the Group 19 under-23s coach.
“My goal isn't as so much about the result, my goal is about getting as many of those kids that were selected yesterday through to a Northern Division jumper because once you get that, you are one step away from a Country jumper,” he said.
