The Horticultural Society had to cancel the Spring Show in October due to the unforgiving drought, which was disappointing.

We did manage to have a flower pavilion at the Tenterfield Show, although there were not as many exhibits.
The show was very enjoyable. Members had a great two days and plenty of people came through and commented on the displays.
The judges were Dorothy Cox from Lismore and Kathleen Henderson from North Coast Coast Dahlia and Floral Art. Both were very helpful in answering all our questions and guiding us in the right directions.
Many of our roses and flowers didn’t last the distance with the heat. The dahlias stood up fine and beautiful as always.
Thanks to Rod and Carol Hurtz and Ron Cook for their contributions.
The next show is the Dahlia And Cut Flower Show on Saturday, February 23 at the Tenterfield Showground Flower Pavilion. Entries taken from 7am to 9am. Judging to start at 9.30am. Show opens to the public at 12 noon. $5 for adults, children free, light lunch $7, afternoon tea $3.
Enquiries to Leslie Littleboy 0403 452 606 or Rod Hurtz (07) 4684 3429.
So come along and have a go – it’s fun and you may surprise yourself. We’re all in the same boat this year, and there appears to be more hot weather coming.
