There weren't many wins among the six teams who represented Armidale at the weekend's event in Port Macquarie.
Under 18s coach Dean Carson said it was a big eye opener.
"Unfortunately it wasn't very successful on the field," he said.
"We didn't perform as well as we thought we would have liked but these things happen.
"[It was a] very big learning curve.
"There were quite a few kids who hadn't experienced it before so they had their eyes opened to it and realised how tough it actually is down there."
Despite the low number of wins, Carson said they enjoyed the tournament and had four players chosen for further representative honours.
"It is all about having fun and enjoying themselves and hopefully building touch football in Armidale," he said.
"Tyler Carson got picked in the 18s. Banjo Clarke and Jacob White got into the 16s and Charlie Foster got in the 12s."
"They have got to go to Macksville next week for final selections, they are in the Northern Eagles squad at the moment."
There was also a celebrity touch game with the Hogs for the Homeless tour in town.
It featured rugby league greats including Brad Fittler, Greg Alexander, Danny Buderus and Nathan Blacklock.
Guyra local Oscar Atkin got to participate in the match.
"He played in that game for Armidale and said he had a great time," Carson said.
