Cr Petty said there are plenty of issues on which a youth council could help and advise Tenterfield Shire Council and its operations.
Council's recent decision to pursue grant money to upgrade the town skate park, and to establish similar facilities in Urbenville and Drake, after receiving a youth-driven petition is one example.
Cr Petty cited sporting facilities and after-school activities as other areas in which a youth council could contribute.
