The highlight of the day was the official unveiling of the replica Cobb and Co coach and wagon hand-crafted by John Burton Snr, who turns 90 next month.
Mr Burton built the coach to honour Liston's location on the Mt Lindesay Road which formed part of the transport link between the Brisbane and Tenterfield.
Described as a carpenter by trade and grazier by profession, Mr Burton is a skilled mechanic and metalworker, excellent potter, leatherworker and woodworker.
On top of that he's a member of the Wheel Wrights Guild in the United Kingdom, so he was certainly the man for the job.
He feels too much history has been lost and he's doing his bit to preserve it, building the coach from scratch.
The community is behind him, with the Liston Hall Committee aiming to establish a tourist spot in Liston Park with suitable shelter for the coach, which will be drawn by a brace of fibreglass horses, along with plaques describing the legacy of Cobb and Co in the area.
Having politicians from all three levels of government participate in the community day was a great opportunity to encourage grant money to come their way.
