Co-manager of the Northern District Exhibit Sydney Royal Easter Show, Brad James, said the district was fortunate to receive five blue ribbons in the produce area, one of which was for this district's extracted honey.

The wool was a very tightly contested section.

"We score first prize for our display and overall first prize for our produce at the show. They're putting up an extremely good show at the show," Brad said.

"We also received first prizes for olives, cotton from Croppa Creek, Roma tomatoes from Guyra and pumpkins from Glen Innes. Then we were als lucky enough to win champion and reserve champion fleece in the wool.

"The wool was a very tightly contested section. We were lucky enough to get a range of fleeces from our producers that were significantly better than we had had for some time, even though it was a drought."

Brad said he thought the drought had impacted on all of the districts.

The standout for this region was the honey submitted for judging by Suellen Wiess.

"Suellen is our co-ordinator in the district, and she's provided us with a range of honeys. She was very generous with her contributions to us for the judging, and we were lucky enough to be on the receiving end of some very good accolades," he said.

"The [honey] mix went from a Crows Ash to Iron Bark, Brush Box, White Mahogany, Yellow Box and a Rough Bark Apple. So, we had a very broad range of flora sources for our honey. And our creamed honey also went very well.

"Also with our honeycomb frames this year we had two exhibitors, one from Lismore and another from Ellangowan. So we were lucky enough to have a very broad range of options within our judging."
