It wasn't a pretty win but any win away from home is a bonus.
- Phil Jones
The Bees hit the road to play newcomers to the competition, the Grafton Redmen, and came home for a 24-16 triumph.
Injuries have wreaked havoc on the Bees this year but they pulled together a team to take to Grafton.
Bees coach Phil Jones said despite his side being short, they found the resolve to take the points in the round six away match.
"Grafton, they said it was the best side they have fielded in the President's Cup," he said.
"They struggled a bit but they had five on the bench.
"We had two subs, we were struggling to field a side on Friday night but we ended up having a full squad plus two."
Jones said it was a scrappy victory.
"It wasn't a pretty win but any win away from home is a bonus," he said.
"We didn't play as well as we could have.
"Gave away far too many penalties, particularly at crucial times and our penalties just helped them leapfrog up the field.
"I think we had seven in-a-row at one stage and at the end of that they scored off it.
"Probably lacking a bit of discipline, didn't play to our structures, our game plan went out the window but that was probably caused by late changes, we had to rearrange our back line but we were a bit light on in the forwards.
"All in all it was a good win.
"I have never had a bad one."
Jacob Cox and Anthony Thomas were the standouts for Tenterfield.
"There was some really good individual performances but we probably didn't play well as a team," Jones said.
This Saturday, the Bees head to Kyogle to take on the Cockies.
"We will just have to sharpen right up this weekend against Kyogle," Jones said.
