The Tigers teams forfeited the previous week's round seven fixtures to Warialda with the Tenterfield men's team unable to pull together a full side.
It meant the league tag team didn't get a game either with competition rules stating it can't be played without a men's game.
The men did manage to form a team for the away clash with Tingha and it meant the girls could take the field as well.
League tag coach Megg Landers was grateful the boys pulled together.
"At Tingha, they didn't have enough players, they had to scrape through but they played for us," she said.
"We appreciate it so much.
"I think they will for the rest of the season, just scrape by.
"We are in equal fourth now and we have a chance."
The girls were beaten 24-nil. Landers lamented her team didn't capitalise in attack when they had the opportunities but was happy with their defence, despite Tingha's super sticky velcro proving difficult in removing their tags.
"We only had 11 on Saturday but we didn't play very good," she said.
"I think because it was so wet, we dropped about 50 balls, lots of a drop balls and mistakes.
"Their tags were tough to get off, our defence wasn't too bad but those tags were just a bit hard.
"We didn't play very good in attack, I don't know whether it was because it was wet or what was going on."
In good news for the Tenterfield girls, the two ladder points they missed out on when they lost to Uralla were added to their tally due to Uralla fielding an unregistered player.
"We are so happy about that because we lost those two points for the forfeit," Landers said.
"The girls were pretty disheartened that we couldn't play Warialda but I think the boys understand now.
"They know it is not just them they are letting down, it is us."
The men's team were downed 36-20.
Co-coach Jake Kelly said it was even until the final 10 minutes.
"We started pretty well, we got out 10 nil lead, Tingha got back into it through Corey Torrens," he said.
"He set up a couple of tries and we went into the break 16-10
"We fought back to be 20-22 with 10 to go.
"A bit of ill-discipline and ended up with two in the sin bin and they scored two late tries.
"Just when we got down to 11 blokes there was a bit of an overlap."
The Tigers next home game will be against Walcha on June 15 for round eight.
