Indigenous dancer Dion Drummond will be doing a one-hour presentation, as well as conducting dance classes as part as a rotation of indigenous-inspired actives the students will rotate through later in the day.
Dion is of Torres Strait Island descent on his mother's side and Aboriginal on his father's side, born in Mossman in North Queensland. He has toured internationally for many years, as far afield as Moscow, Qatar, Spain and Hong Kong, sharing his culture through culture dance, singing and storytelling.
Dance is among activities including painting, weaving, sand art and storytelling that the students will be involved in during the afternoon.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help out with these activities is asked to call Kim Rhodes or Geoff Swan at the school so they can be added to the roster.
The school's Parents & Citizens group is sponsoring food and drink for the day, so those attending the morning ceremony are also invited to stay for morning tea.
Lunch will be provided to those volunteering for the afternoon's activities.
Mr Swan, who's the school's Aboriginal Education Officer, said it's important that people get involved to learn more about indigenous culture.
"And the kids seem to enjoy it," he said.
