The school is a rural version of the very popular city music school run by Dr James Cuskelly and his international team under the Cuskelly College of Music banner. Dr Cuskelly is keen to give country kids access to an opportunity to enjoy music, particularly with so many families stressed by drought.

Bookings for the workshops are strong but will be accepted right up until July 7, across the genres of piano, instrumental, vocal, jazz and choral, song writing and choir.
All children from school years 3-12 are welcome regardless of ability, and free bus travel to and from town is being offered from Warwick, Bonshaw, Tabulam and Glen Innes. Thanks to subsidies those coming from regional or remote areas receive a discounted price of $95 (instead of the normal $495) for the week of music school.
People of all ages can get involved in a day of community singing in The Big Chilly Sing on Sunday, July 7. Participate in the workshop at the high school from 9.30am to 1pm ($30 at the door, including morning tea and lunch), or get along to the free concert from 2-3pm to see the results of their efforts.
There's also free daily song-writing workshops at the Tenterfield High School from 5.30pm to 6.15pm for anyone who thinks they've got the next Grammy award-winner in them, from July 8-11.
For those who prefer to sit back and be entertained, there's a week-long series of concerts for little or no cost, and they're on early in the evening so people can get home to their fires.
