The Tabulam branch of the Country Women's Association has been hard at work in their community since the devastating bush-fires in February, collecting and allocating monetary donations to be held and managed by the CWA Far North Coast Group.

Focussing on both immediate and long-term assistance, and taking into account how large donors requested the funds be distributed, the Tabulam CWA divided their efforts into two stages.

The first stage has been about immediate assistance. Working in conjunction with BlazeAid, the branch opened their rooms in Tabulam each Wednesday morning from March 27 to May 1 to enable anyone in need of help, especially in rebuilding fencing or irrigation to come in and request assistance, with a total of $3,059.02 provided for fencing, $3749.70 for irrigation and $646.87 for emergency hardware and feed.
Further vouchers were issued for the Tabulam Co-op and Tabulam Family Mart, as well as emergency vouchers for Target, Coles and Woolworths.
The CWA Tabulam Branch has also worked closely with Tabulam rural agents to identify those most in need of emergency hardware, stock-feed, fuel, fencing and irrigation vouchers, with a view to keeping the money within the fire-affected community.
Stage two will be focused on assisting those who have lost their homes and will be managed by the Far North Coast Group and or the State CWA with their many resources.
