New picture rails mounted around the walls of the classic Art Deco Curve Bar at the Commercial Boutique Hotel is transforming the venue into a photographic gallery project, with manager Tim Dillon keen to regularly display the work of local photographers.

The first exhibition is a documentation of the stunning Bluff River Railway Viaduct which crosses the Bluff River just east of the highway bridge. Only two such major wooden viaducts were constructed in the shire for the final section of the Great Northern Railway in the 1860s.

Everyone knows the iconic Sunnyside Viaduct with its failing timbers but the lesser known Bluff River Viaduct is twice as long, twice as high and spans a beautiful sandy section of the river.
Photographers Peter Reid and Peter Harris recently captured the peaceful bridge in her rural surroundings. They have also published an informative souvenir booklet with beautiful photos and a brief history, which is available at the front counter.
The photos were briefly on display at the Tenterfield Cinema earlier this year but if you missed them there (or would like a repeat viewing), drop into the Curve Bar Gallery Project and rediscover this forgotten local treasure.
