Tenterfield Shire Council received word of the grant from Energy & Environment minister Matthew Kean.
The project is a partnership between council and community groups OzFish, the Bird Watching Institute and Moombahlene Local Aboriginal Land Council. The project, Creek Corridors - Community Restoration of Tenterfield Creek, covers three kilometres of creek bank and surrounding park land from Manners Street bridge to Naas Street, with restoration through bank stabilisation, revegetation, weed control and prevention of excess sedimentation to be carried out in three stages.

"This project came about through the findings of council consultants Red Frog, with the grant funding being awarded through a restoration and rehabilitation grant from the NSW Environmental Trust," mayor Peter Petty said.
"There is still a long way to go. A detailed delivery program needs to be developed which will possibly include the addition of rain creating a flow in the Tenterfield Creek.
"I wish to thank Michael Davey from OzFish and council's Open Space, Regulatory & Utilities manager Mark Cooper, and his team for getting this project up and running."
