Barry and Di O'Connor of Tenterfield Lodge and Caravan Park are keen to spearhead a fundraising effort to bring the community together and raise funds to support the victims of the weekend's fires, and they want to hear from those who'd like to be involved.

Mr O'Connor said details are yet to be firmed up but he's thinking of a Saturday in Late October/early November, once the dust has settled from the latest outbreak (trusting there won't be more). He would like to see a fair-like event with stalls, sausage sizzle, Devonshire teas (wife Di makes award-winning scones), photos in a fire truck, an old-fashioned chocolate wheel, entertainment and more.

The location could be at the caravan park, showground or Memorial Hall but he's keen to go ahead unless overtaken by a bigger fundraising opportunity.
"The idea is to get together, raise a few bucks and help the community out," he said.
"Let's band together to help these guys."
He'd like to get business owners onboard with a coinciding Super Saturday arrangement where maybe 10 per cent of sales that day are donated to the cause.
He's waiting to hear back from the Salvos' Joel Soper (who's busy feeding firefighters and evacuees at Tenterfield Showground) to coordinate how funds will be dispersed, to maintain transparency throughout the operation.
The O'Connors are prepared to take on the administration and printing costs, so that all proceeds go to those in need.
Mr O'Connor hopes to have more details by next week but in the meantime anyone who can contribute in any way can contact him on 0418 169 246.
