The Bruxner Highway is open for now since the threat of falling trees due to the Drake fire abates, but motorists heading to and from the coast are advised of changed traffic conditions from this week as maintenance is carried out on Tabulam Bridge.

Maintenance activities start on Tuesday, September 24 and will take three weeks to complete, weather permitting, Roads and Maritime Services advises.

Work will be carried out between 7am and 5pm on weekdays.

This week motorists may experience delays of up to five minutes while the work is carried out. These delays will increase in the following weeks.

Traffic control and a reduced speed limit will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

Meanwhile, major construction on the new bridge project is expected to resume in the coming weeks.

The maintenance works have been timed to ensure the bridge remains capable of carrying loads associated with the ongoing construction of the new bridge.
