Cailee Cossins from Tenterfield met Leigh Weighell at pony camp.
"The best thing about my first pony camp, was meeting Cailee," Leigh said.
While the camp went ahead, and the children enjoyed it, the adults organising the event said they had received some negative feedback
A letter was received by camp organisers, suggesting the camp should not be held, because the use of water in a drought season was inappropriate.
Discussions about the use of water at the local pony camp resulted in water being, brought in from farms and purchased from Armidale Arboretum.
There was water provided for horses and people attending the camp but conservative use was practiced.
Miriam Lott volunteered to teach Gold Troop, younger riders, at the annual camp. The 'leadlines' group are when parents attend and lead their children around the arena.
"The weather conditions are tough but the children have a great time doing something different and when everyone comes it really is a community event," Miriam Lott said.
Young children were lead on their ponies by parents, on a hot and windy dusty day. The pleasure the children was visible to everyone.
