"Council held an Extraordinary Council Meeting on Thursday, 17 October 2019 and voted to amend the Drought Management Plan and impose the new level 4.7 to ensure the viability of our businesses in town, particularly some nurseries," Mayor Peter Petty said.

The new Level 4.7 restrictions ban the use of automatic stock troughs from mains water, along with the daily half-hour irrigation of domestic gardens by hose or watering system allowed under 4.5 restrictions. The daily one-hour irrigation of market gardens and nurseries is unaffected.
Council said residents who have stock in town should now be utilising the free stock water available from the Apex Park bore on the northern end of town. Council's rangers will be visiting all residents with livestock in the town area and will be available to provide advice and assistance as required.
