Reports of the demise of Steinbrook Hall in the September 6 fire which started on Mt Lindesay Road were much-exaggerated. Fire did, however, come perilously close.

The Steinbrook Progress Association celebrated the near miss and thanked all the firies that have been working so hard over the past few months, with a barbecue at the hall on Saturday night. BlazeAid volunteers, helping to deal with the aftermath of those fires, were also hosted for a fun, relaxed social gathering.
