The plucky Queenslander was at it again on Wednesday at the Gabba in the one-day cup, albeit eventually for a losing side, crushing 135 from 127 balls to rescue a Bulls outfit that had slumped to 4-24.

Arriving in the second over, he watched as Usman Khawaja (5), Matt Renshaw (0) and Joe Burns (0) all fell without Queensland adding to their score.

But he wasn't flustered, batting with freedom to bring up an overdue century before eventually departing in the final over.

Before Wednesday's innings he had passed 50 eight times in 16 innings including an unbeaten 72 at the Gabba on Monday that helped the Bulls out of a precarious position to secure an outright Sheffield Shield win.

Labuschagne said he felt comfortable no matter the circumstances ahead of next month's first Test at the same ground against Pakistan, where he is likely to bat ahead of Steve Smith at No.3.

"I love getting in the contest, love standing up when we need it and I definitely think the time in England at (County club) Glamorgan and playing in a tough Ashes series, always being under high stress, helped," he said.

"It was nice to get it (a hundred after eight 50s), but it's a tough one to swallow (after a tight loss to South Australia).

"I don't think there's too many more pressure situations than coming back from England, so to play in front of family and friends (in a Gabba Test) is amazing, but my job isn't to think about that at this point in time."

His purple patch is in contrast to an otherwise off colour Australian top six ahead of Pakistan's visit.

Khawaja, Burns and Renshaw have all failed to mount compelling cases for Test recalls while in Sydney David Warner (4) added another ugly dismissal as memories of his impressive opening-round Shield hundred faded.

Even Steve Smith (9), fresh off his own Shield hundred, fell cheaply in the Blues' big loss to Tasmania, one Matthew Wade missed with a minor groin strain.

Ben McDermott (58 off 61) tuned up nicely ahead of Australia's T20 series to steer the chase while Josh Hazlewood (3-47) outbowled his wicketless national teammates Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
