Tenterfield Bridge Club president Christine Denis said members of the Ballina Club have a real affection for our town because of their long standing participation in Tenterfield's October Bridge Congress.
At the lunch break on the first day of this year's Congress, Ballina Bridge Club president Chery MaCallum presented a cheque for $3000 to Rotary Club of Tenterfield Vice President Ralph Manser and Treasurer Kevin Rumble. The funds will enable the Tenterfield Rotarians to continue providing household water to rural families whose tanks and dams have run dry.

"Such a simple idea gives families not only fresh water, but real emotional support at a time when many rural families feel isolated and severely depressed," Mrs Denis said.
Also playing in the congress (and enjoying a brief respite) were a couple from Western Australia, Kathy Perry and Matt Kruk, who are in Tenterfield working with the BlazeAid gang.
The Tenterfield Congress attracted 72 players from Ballina, Yamba, Lismore, Brunswick Heads, Armidale, Stanthorpe, Warwick and Toowoomba, as well as local players. The winners of the championship were Helen and Peter Tootell from Ballina.
