Organisers hope the hall will be filled with local residents, to send a clear message to NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and Hunter New England Health that the Tenterfield community will not accept any reduction in hospital services, and that nursing staff levels be returned to three for every shift.

Council said in a statement that it had called the public meeting due to the continuing and increasing level of uncertainty and nervousness in the community as a result of the ongoing issues with the hospital, regarding appropriate staffing levels of nursing personnel and doctors, as well as patient retrieval problems.
Along with Mayor Peter Petty and Nurses & Midwives Association's Jo McKeough, at the meeting will be Cross Border Commissioner James McTavish and NSW Ambulance representative John Lawler, fires permitting.
The meeting is to be MCed by deputy mayor Greg Sauer. Tenterfield Care Centre (Mr Sauer is also its committee chair) will also be otherwise represented.
MP Janelle Saffin will be in Sydney but hopes to participate through a live link, and other state government and HNEH representatives have been invited.
