More than 2600 10-litre containers of water were distributed to local householders on Sunday from the Coles car park, with people also collecting for neighbours, family and friends and those unable to do the pickup themselves.

In a coordinated effort groups like TSDC (Tenterfield Social Development Committee) collected on behalf of 16 households. Steve Alford and Laurie looked after Scrub Road, and dropped off to doctors surgeries and the Preschool on Tuesday.
Leechs Gully area residents got their delivery on Friday and some communities are distributing their allocation at the village Christmas Party, like Bolivia/Sandy Flat on December 8. Sunnyside area had a community barbecue on Saturday for their water pickup.
Containers are coming to the local hotel this week for Jennings residents to collect, and distributions to Steinbrook, Bungulla, Black Swamp, Barney Downs and Timbarra are to come. The ambulance station collected theirs on the weekend, with other facilities still pending.
Councillor Bronwyn Petrie has started something with her initial request to Coles for help, with a similar rollout in Guyra on Saturday. The Coles area manager Shane Lindsay was in Tenterfield on Sunday to see how it all worked, and got to witness how a huge volunteer effort from local CWA members and other individuals is making the distribution run smoothly.
"It's all been really well received," Cr Petrie said.
