After a reschedule forced by the September fires around Tenterfield Dam, the family Gone Fishing Day is now set for Sunday, December 1 and you don't have to throw back your catches.

"This is the first time you can legally catch a fish and take it home," OzFish's Michael Davey said.
The fish just has to meet species and size specifications, but there will be OzFish members on hand to provide advice. The only request is that the fish not be cleaned on the banks of the dam, but instead taken home to be processed.
And with a good population of fish in a concentrated pool of water, Mr Davey suspects there might be a few attach themselves to the end of lines.
"I've got a feeling a few people might catch a few fish," he said.

The water was too murky following the fires for the original date, but he said it's of better quality now and a great day is anticipated.
Fishing with both lures and baits is allowed.
The Lions Club is running a barbecue with proceeds going towards restocking the dam once it rains.
The $2 entry fee gets a ticket into the draw for a limited edition fishing rod. There are plenty of other prizes to be distributed on the day with young fishers particularly targeted, so Mr Davey is hoping families will come along.
"It's a positive thing for the town after the horrible time we've been through."
It all happens from 7am to 2pm, at Saddler Estate Park, and there will be toilet facilities. Parents are urged to keep a close eye on their children given the soft edges of the dam.
"We're hoping for a good day, and get the kids out and buy a sausage and go into the draw for a good rod," Mr Davey said.
"And it's the first time you can legally take the fish home, which is pretty cool."
