"He is an absolutely lovely bloke," HealthWISE primary health care nurse Chris Connor said.
In an effort to give the community a small break from the stresses of the drought, HealthWISE partnered with Tenterfield Shire Council who received a grant from Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) for the event.
The focus of the night was the power of resilience. Wendell gave an honest talk on the highs and lows of his football career, including his two-year suspension after failing a drug test. He discussed his battle with depression and seeking help after encouragement from by friends Wayne Bennet and Artie Beetson.

"Depression can happen to anybody," Chris said.
"And the sooner we seek help, the better the outcome."
Wendell was joined by sixth generation farmer, former Meat and Livestock Australia chair and former NSW Farmer's Association director Rob Anderson.
Rob shared the difficulties he faced in running the family farm, and how it almost cost him his marriage.
HNE Health women's health nurse Margie Burns challenged men to consider the sometimes taboo topic of 'what goes on below the belt'. She discussed what's normal, what isn't and when to see a doctor.
Free health checks were available on the night from HealthWISE nurses.
