Future cricket stars in Tenterfield have been learning the ins and outs of the sport every Friday.

The Woolworths Cricket Blast program is conducted every Friday at Shirley Park from 4.30pm to 6pm.

The Tenterfield children in the program have been learning the basics of bowling and hitting with the squishy ball and plastic bats.

It is an entry-level program for under-10 players to build their skills in the sport before they graduate to Master Blasters and play modified games of cricket.

After finishing up in the Blast program, the participants will then have the chance to play on a 16 metre pitch with soft cricket balls to test out the skills they have learned.

Then they will transition into the junior programs and progress through the grades.
