The Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley, and noted indigenous artist Bronwyn Bancroft will share the honour of opening the 2020 Tenterfield Show next month.
The Governor-General and his wife visited Tenterfield following the October bushfires and expressed interest in returning for the 2020 Tenterfield Show.
"We believe this is the first time a Governor-General has officially visited Tenterfield in many years and we are looking forward to showing Their Excellencies what our district has to offer," Show Society president Matthew Duff said.
"We are also looking forward to having Mrs Bancroft take part in the official opening of the show."
Ms Bancroft was born in Tenterfield and has achieved great success as an artist, fashion designer, illustrators and arts administrator.
"We believe she will be an inspiration to many young Tenterfield people."
The official opening of the 2020 Tenterfield Show will take place on Saturday, February 8, following the grand parade at 3pm.
Members of Tenterfield's Major J.F. Thomas Light Horse Troop and visiting Light Horse riders will escort the official party into the ring for the official opening.
Admission to this year's Tenterfield Show is free.
