The North West girls CHS cricket side will be padding up for a maiden state title at Bathurst on Thursday after beating Sydney South West in their semi-final at Scots College on Tuesday.

It came down to the wire with the reigning champions needing only nine off the final over to pass North West's

After starring with the bat during the week, Oxley High School's Lara Graham stepped up with the ball, the ACT/NSW Country rep taking the wicket North West needed to earn a spot in the final for the first time in a long while, possibly ever.

Former Sports Coordination Officer for the zone Richard Rowlings couldn't remember a North West girls side making the final in his time in the role, and even before that.

They will play the winner of the other semi-final between Sydney North and Sydney West.

Coach Ryan Whitton said it has been an impressive effort from the girls, particularly playing one short since the first game with one of the side forced to withdraw through injury.

They were undefeated in their four round games to finish on top of the table.

Playing in her last campaign for North West, Graham has been outstanding with the bat, scoring unbeaten half centuries in their first four games.

Facing North Coast in their first game they amassed a massive total of 1-181 from their 20 overs with Graham making 78 and school-mate Claire McGuirk 87no.

They then bowled North Coast out for 70.

In their second match they bowled Western out for 88. On the back of Graham's 78no they then chased down the runs for the loss of only two wickets.

Day two pitted them against Hunter first-up.

After Graham anchored them to 4-150 with 75no they restricted Hunter to 9-118.

They then posted 5-146 with Graham top-scoring with 61no before keeping Sydney East to 7-124 in reply.
