Tenterfield's Back to the Sixties weekend from March 19-22 is shaping up to be a very successful morale booster for the community and for the many visitors who have booked to come and be part of the celebrations.
The six events start with a Trivia Night at the Tenterfield Golf Club on Thursday evening starting at 7pm. Teams of six will compete to answer questions based on the big events of the '60's, with a first prize of dinner for six at the Rosenhof German Restaurant, plus plenty of other prizes. In between rounds there will be a Jokes competition with the best story winning a $50 fuel voucher.
On Friday there will be a showing of the iconic film Woodstock, with memorable performances from the likes of Santana, The Who, and Jimi Hendrix. Drinks and food will be served, followed by the film and auction, plus lots of 60's memorabilia.
Saturday starts off with a Flower Power market in Bruxner Park with lots of stalls, followed by a local car mystery tour starting at lunchtime from the council's southern car park. Then in the evening the Rock 'n Roll dance at the Showground Pavilion will take off with a five-piece live band and a dance competition plus modern dancing displays.T
he bar will be operating, and food stalls will be present, plus somewhere to sit down and have a reviving drink for anyone who needs a break. People are already in training for the short competition in the middle of the evening, and again there will be good prizes for the top dancers
In marked contrast the events will wind down on the Sunday morning with a Peace and Love breakfast in the centre of town in Bruxner Park when, weather permitting, people will be able to lay out a blanket and enjoy a leisurely breakfast from the Lions food van.
