A council working group has selected 155 dead trees (out of 1034 submitted by residents in the Tenterfield town area) to be removed at no cost to the landholder, paid out of a $85,000 allocation from a National Bushfire Recovery Grant.

Council is now seeking quotations for the work.
"Grant funding of $85,000 provided under the National Bushfire Recovery Grant meant that not all EOIs (expressions of interest) were successful," Mayor Peter Petty said.
He said all applications were assessed on their location within a bushfire prone area, the height of the tree and other risk factors.
Once awarded the project, the contractor will liaise directly with the owners of the selected trees to arrange removal and disposal, leaving the stump (and, in some instances, the felled trees) as advised by the owners.
The applications have been ranked in case the budget is exhausted earlier than expected, or if more funds are allocated to the program.
Council said applicants will be informed of their success or otherwise by August.
