XI Ducks and the Bonshaw Billy Goats went head-to-head for the opening round.
The Bonshaw Billy Goats won the toss and sent their opponents into bat but it didn't prove to be a fruitful decision.
Ben Austin and Tom Butler launched out of the blocks.
Austin whacked five fours on his way to 25 while Butler managed eight fours and a six before retiring on 51.
Mitchell Austin was caught on a duck off Tim Ramsay's bowling before Dylan Horn was also dismissed by Ramsay on 12.
Todd Hayne finished the innings on 30 not out as the Ducks finished on 3-175 off their 20 overs.
Wicket-takers for the Billy Goats were Ramsay with 2-22 off two overs and Simon Piccini with 1-11 off two.
The Billy Goats' run chase didn't start as planned with Luke Mayne caught on one and Piccini bowled on two.
Scott Coventry and James Moore came up with a valuable partnership, Coventry bowled on 37 by Hayne while Moore retired not out on 51.
The Billy Goats proved their batting line up runs deep with Matt Cater contributing with 17, Geoff Fearby adding 27, Will Ramsay 12 not out and Ian Coventry on six not out as they ran down the required runs in 19.1 overs, six wickets down.
At the time the Star went to press, the bowling statistics on MyCricket weren't complete for the Ducks bowlers with only four wickets attributed to bowlers.
The second match on Thursday night saw the KLAS Bouncers and Tavern face off. The Bouncers chose to bat first and fired early.
Tyler Sargeant retired on 51 not out with 10 fours along the way.
Pat Skinner was the first wicket to fall at the hands of Dave Fowler for 14.
Fowler had his second in the form of Neil Savins leg-before-wicket for 12 shortly after.
Brody Parker went back to the sheds with one off Shaun Merchant's bowling before Adam Genninges got a roll on. Genninges made 50 not out before retiring while Josh Parker made 13, Anthony Coup seven not out and James Springborg four not out as the Bouncers finished 4-171 from 20 overs.
Wicket-takers for Tavern were Fowler with 2-11 from two, Pat Spillane 1-18 and Merchant 1-2.
Tavern started strongly before Spillane was caught and bowled by Mark Savins 15.
Tavern had scored one more run before Savins had his second scalp in fellow Bouncers opener Tom Fowler for 39.
Merchant made 17 before being caught off Felix Rose-Hill's bowling, Lindsay Lockwood was bowled by Pat Skinner for two, Blair Dennis was sent packing for a duck after being bowled by Neil Savins while Dave Fowler finished on 43 not out and J Finnerty six not out as Tavern couldn't chase down Bouncers' runs in their 20 overs.
