Saturday's family fishing day at Tenterfield Dam wasn't as well-attended as hoped but that won't sway local Ozfish representative Michael Davey from pushing for more fishing days on the dam, and hopefully on a regular basis.
"I'd like to see them monthly," he said.
He said Saturday turned on the best weather they've ever had and the three dozen or so who did come along had a great day, and some big 'catties' were landed.
Mr Davey said the size of the fish demonstrated the resilience of native fish as these must have survived the miasma of fire retardant and ash that affected the dam after the bushfires.
"No way a fish could have grown that much since," he said.
Young Bee-Jay Holley claimed the catch of the day with a 51cm whopper.
