"It will be an opportunity for the Tenterfield community to meet our Lifeline Counsellor and Peer Worker based in Rouse Street," he said. "We're really pleased to be providing a local counselling service for those affected by natural disasters.
"We have appointments available now for community members to talk to our counsellor. Our counsellor sees clients that may be feeling worried, sad or anxious or they may be going through a difficult time in their life."
Appointments are free and there is no referral needed. To book an appointment clients can call 1300 152 854.
Mr Were said he's hoping the morning tea will draw attention to the dedicated face-to-face counselling service Lifeline has designed to help those affected by the 2019/2020 bushfires, and boost uptake. Funding has been extended to also include flood impact.
He would like to see service providers come along to the gathering to see what Lifeline does, along with anyone in the community wanting to get to connected to services.
"All are welcome to join us for morning tea. We are looking forward to a relaxed morning with a warm drink and a chat,' said Mr Were, "and you can come along and meet Rosie the dog."
