Taking on the Barbarians for the lone fixture, the Elks scored four tries to tree in the 27-17 triumph.
Elks coach Dennis Brown said his side were good in patches, albeit inconsistent, but gave credit to his side's opponents.
"I am going to say that we were shocked by the huge improvement from the Baa Baas," he said.
"They showed a lot more cohesion and spirit than what they had the last time we played them."
Brown said the weather affected the players, even though a body of water was removed from the sideline prior to the match.
"Pickles [Michael Miller] got the pump on it with two inch tube and by game time it wasn't too bad," he said.
"It was pretty much right down on the sideline.
"We are very pleased that the pumping prevented potential fatalities with someone being bundled into touch and drowning."
The Elks' forward pack has been bolstered by a handful of Tenterfield players after the Bumblebees folded this season.
Brown said having the additional muscle up front allows them to concentrate on their forward play.
"[They have] seriously strengthened our team," he said.
"We have got now four guys that are over 6'3 and playing in the back row.
"I would like to thank them for turning up and doing the big drives they are doing."
