Minns has previously held the positions of club president and coach and remembers when Tenterfield had previously lifted premiership trophies in 2006 and 2007.
He was also part of the heartbreak of grand final losses in the 2010s so he knows how special it is to finally win one.
"It is a phenomenal feeling to win," he said of the 12-10 win over Inglewood.

"The last two grand finals we played in as a club we got beat by Inglewood so to get one back is great in itself."
Minns said Inglewood had all the momentum at the back end of the grand final and if it wasn't for a missed conversion, they would have had to play out extra time.
Luckily for the Tigers, the conversion was missed and they held on to win by two points.
With such a short season, teams were required to play well to secure a spot towards the top of the table.
Minns said they were confident early on but were still aware of the opposing teams, particularly their grand final opponents who were touted as the team to beat after a pre-season competition.
"Probably one of the biggest things is you have got to play well all throughout that season to make sure you finish in the top two to make sure you at least have a second chop at the cherry," he said.
"We had to play really well to make sure we were there at the back end of season.
"I feel throughout the year we were really strong throughout the year.
"I knew that we had a really good side with a great mix of youth and experience to be able to at least match the top teams. It wasn't until the last three rounds we pushed clear."
And heading into the future, Minns is confident the Tigers will taste more success.
While some will hang up the boots, there's still plenty to be excited about.
Some of their more experienced players still have years of rugby league left in them while there's a host of talented youngsters at the club.
"There's some great young footballers to lead the club into the next 10 years," Minns said.
"Tyler Sargeant got player of the grand final, he is only 19 and he plays halfback.
"Brendan Blaker got players' player. It is great to see that these young fellas have tasted success so early on."
While signs are positive on the field, Minns was also thankful for the off-field support, particularly this year's coach and president David Landers.
"A massive thank you to our coaches, our volunteers and our supporters for the support and help throughout the year," he said.
"And our committee and ever else that is involved with the club that has made a great year.
"For us to get the rewards of a premiership is unreal and it shows the hard work and dedication will pay off."
