For the Sapphhire City Science and Engineering Challenge, 2022 was possibly the most keenly contested as well as extremely difficult to organise because of the unknown direction COVID-19 restrictions would take.
Luckily everything came together for the day, Thursday March 10, when students from Tenterfield High School joined others from around the New England region in Inverell.

This year the combined force of Inverell, Inverell East and Warialda Rotary Clubs supervised and assisted the school students in the various activities.
This event could not have been run without their assistance and their input was much appreciated.
Apart from Tenterfield High, schools that attended and competed this year included Inverell and Macintyre High Schools and Holy Trinity School as well as Glen Innes High School and Inverell Public School with a small group of very keen students.
All of the students competed with great enthusiasm and teamwork on the various activities.
At the end of the day and before the bridge breaking competition the scores from the various schools were very close.
Following the bridge breaking Macintyte High School was the winner receiving a trophy with Glen Innes High in second place.
Science and Engineering was definitely the winner of the day as all of the students had an amazing and memorable day.
Appreciation was also extended to the teachers who organised their students and too the Challenge staff from the university of Newcastle.
Engineers Australia and the Office of the Chief Scientist NSW assisted with sponsorship for the day.
