After only one or two training sessions, the under seven and eight-year-olds, many playing for the first time, handled themselves well.
Jake Little, Jackson O’Neill, Jayden Swan and Jerry Mcgrady received their very first tackles of the season. All boys held the ball well when running.
Minimu Inoui and Luke Preston for the under eights scored their first tries and should be very proud.
In the under 10s Wade Kirby was one of the many outstanding players running the ball strongly with good defence.
Kyle Garth, Dan Policaro, Kynan Koch and Tyler Sargeant all helped the scoreboard kick along and had great defence.
This team will improve as training sessions take place. They will learn more on positional play and passing the ball out wider.
Will Evans for the under 12s is already a player of the future.
Will is strong in both defence and attack and a great team player.
The win was a great team effort. Tim Policaro, Chaney Rhodes, Ethan Graham defended well.
Michael Daley played well as five-eight with nice sidestepping runs and he is beginning to pass the ball to his outside runners.
The under 14s absolutely smashed their opposition.
Jack Evans was incredible, dominating the forwards with his powerful running and solid defence.
Alex Policaro and James Shaw also played consistently.
Connor Bird had a good game as dummy half. The backs, Matthew Clothier, Cassidy Thrift, Reagan Sullivan and Elijah Hogan ran rings around the opposition. Jake Brown dominated the centre position with his hard running and defensive tackling style.
The under 16s was another game that was hard to pick out outstanding players. All boys played well as a team.
Anthony Maybury set the season off again with tireless, hard hitting tackles. Michael Oxford, Danny Loneragan and Jack Waugh played well in the forwards and Sean Perrin ran through holes all day.
Tom Landers directed play well and Regan Brack showed secure hands as fullback. A tough, hard-fought game with the Bears coming out the winners.
The Bears will travel to Clifton next Saturday, any players requiring lifts, please see coach. The shirts and socks will not be going to Clifton and will be available on Thursday before the game.
Training is 5pm Thursdays.
The under 12s, 14s and 16s are training on Tuesdays as well.
Remember to train and play as a team.
