Commbank offered local cricket clubs across the country the chance to apply for a two-year sponsorship, with successful clubs receiving cash, cricket equipment and Commbank gear like marquees for game days.
Alan Donges put his hand up on behalf of the Royals and had a win. In addition to the marquee the club received kit bags, stumps, 12 leather practice balls and six junior practice balls, plastic practice stumps and an automated ball shooting machine for catching practice.
The club also received a cash injection of $2000 this year and next.
The Royals play a T20 competiton at Shirley Park on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with the season now underway with five teams involved. Mr Donges said his team was a bit short for the first round but some under 11 years cricketers stepped up to make up the numbers and played well, and had a great time.
