The Short Fuses have made it straight into the grand final thanks to a cracking game on Wednesday night. After winning the toss, they sent the KLAS Bouncers in to bat before stunning their opposition with some fierce bowling. Matt Ware bowled Nathan Brownrigg out for a golden duck off the first ball and by the third wicket, the Bouncers had only managed a mere 12 runs. Danny Potter and Damien Connor, formed a solid partnership contributing 19 and 14 runs to the total. Brendan Minns and Pat Skinner also helped the Bouncers claw their way back into the game with 16 runs apiece, leaving them 9/113. Shaun Merchant was the star bowler for the Short Fuses taking 2 wickets whilst conceding only 3 runs. The second innings saw the Short Fuses up to bat, proving too strong for the opposition with 5/117, as Shaun Merchant hit 23 runs and Daniel Puglisi 22. The young fellas bowled well for the KLAS Bouncers with Tyler Sargeant bowling 2/7 and Matt Savins 1/4.

Thursday Night saw the XI Ducks and Telegraph Slammers battling it out for a spot in the preliminary finals, as the XI Ducks proved too much for the Slammers. The XI Ducks were up to bat first and thanks to some top batting from Mitch Austin, retiring not out for 52, and Jayson Murphy hitting 43 runs, they managed a total of 8/122. Lachlaun Tweedale and Troy Cochrane, both tried their best to keep the oppositions score down for the Slammers bowling a wicket each and both conceding only 5 runs. In the second innings, Jayson Murphy came close to bowling a hat trick with 3 wickets in 4 balls, ending his spell on 4/3, as Dylan Turner also bowled well with a score of 1/3. Geoff Swan Jnr tried valiantly to up the Slammers total hitting 19 runs, adding to the 14 runs notched up by James Jerome, but the XI Ducks still managed to come out on top as the Slammers were all out for 87.
The preliminary final will be played this week to decide who will take on the Short Fuses in the Grand Final. Wednesday night will host the KLAS Bouncers and the XI Ducks fierce battle, who will win is anyone’s guess. Good luck to all teams.
