Since then the group has expanded, offering a range of professional environmental services including contract tree planting, weed management and environmental consultancies. The group also runs a specialty nursery, supplying cold climate Australian trees and shrubs for retail and wholesale.
Spokeswoman Alicia Cooper said the current focus was on growing the environmental services branch.
“We have over 30 years experience and we were one of the organisations to pioneer the re-vegetation practices used in the New England and tablelands areas,” she said.
The Armidale Tree Group recently launched its Every Tree Counts project – a long-term strategy to manage re-vegetation for the next 30 years. This includes connectivity of koala habitat and migration of flora and fauna.
Currently, the focus is on the Saumarez Creek area, not far from the Armidale Airport.
“We aim to build a cross tablelands corridor, linking the western and eastern sides of the tablelands,” she said.
