Organisers behind new sporting group Tenterfield Traditional Archers are aiming to further promote the activity by adding a few new strings to its bow.
Bob Rogan said the club is offering supervised stints on the practice ground as a somewhat-unique tourism attraction to town visitors, and the offer has already been taken up.
A group of Wesley Hospital medical staff and friends make an annual pilgrimage to Tenterfield around this time of year to play golf. Looking for a diversion to fill in the time before their noon tee-off and having heard of the archery club, they enjoyed a memorable hour or two under the guidance of Mr Rogan and wife Marian.
The club provided all the equipment and guidance (and safety protocols).

Mr Rogan said the couples also split up into husband versus wife teams and he wasn’t sure who eventually one but there was a fair bit of sledging.
He said the club is happy to add its facilities to the list of tourism activities on offer, and is also ready to host local groups for a unique social outing.
The club may even score a few new devotees out of the exercise.
