The Tenterfield Tigerettes proved their mettle when they took on Bingara Bullets with just 11 players on Saturday.
With no reserves on the bench, the Tenterfield side were beaten 28-4 but coach Wayne Minns said they fought until the full-time siren.
“We had 11, the bare minimum of players, and a lot of inexperienced players,” he said.
“To their credit they gutsed it out and kept trying until the final whistle.
“I think they took a fair bit out of it, experience-wise, that if they are a bit short on numbers that they have to tough it out a bit.
“I think with a few reserves we would have had their measure.”
Minns said Bingara just wore his side down and capitalised on their fatigue.
“They wore us down to their advantage and good on them,” he said.
“On the return match if we have our numbers up and get a few reserves there we will hold our own against them real well.”
